So, I started to a new hobby in photography.  I have friends who have really nice DSLR cameras and the pictures they take are amazing. I wanted to invest in something that would yield great returns.  I decided to get a DSLR camera so that when my family go on vacations we can have great pictures to document every trip.  I also wanted to take good pictures of my kids. 
The first thing I did before buying a DSLR camera was to research the different models and try to see what other people were saying in reviews and open forums.  After a week of researching I decide that I would take on the challenge of buying a Canon 40D DSLR camera with a 28-135mm IS USM lens.  I found a great deal at Costco.com for $1149.00 and knew that if I didn't like the camera I had 90 days to return it.
The camera got here on July 15th and I have started to play around with it.  There are a lot of options to play with when taking various types of pictures. I have mostly taken pictures of my kids and I can already tell the difference in picture quality.  I will post some pictures in my next few post as I am very busy at work.  To further enhance my dealings with my new hobby, I decided to enroll in an Intro to Photography class at the nearby community college.  I figure the class will help me understand the basic handling of a camera and its function.
