Comic Con 2008

Well Comic Con 2008 came and went. This year the con was sold out and the amount of people there each day was just mind blowing. You could hardly walk on the Exhibit floors moving from one location to the next. Even on the last day, there was an abundant amount of traffic at Comic Con. Ashley and Arielle had a lot of fun especially at the Nickelodeon and Disney booths. I wasn't able to take any pictures of them because they are still at that stage where big mascots or lifelike representations of the characters still scare them. This event has grown from year to year. It's not all about comics anymore, it more like this convention is all about representing America's Pop Culture. Comics, movies, games, pretty much anything that allows you to escape reality just to take a breather and enjoy yourself. I got to see a lot of nostalgic toys, comics, and animations that I grew up with. The new transformer toy lines look really good as well as the stars wars and GI Joes figures. Got to see a glimpse of the HD quality for Ironman on Blu Ray and this is a must buy. All and all, Comic Con was a blast. I hope that as the popularity grows year to year that they think about having the Comic Con stretched out for a week instead of 4 days. If this year was an indication of what is to come, they need to make this a longer event. Well until next year. I've included so photos of some of the booth displays.

Alyssa's moment with her God-Grandma

Here are some closeup shots of Alyssa with her God-Grandma. She loves her a lot. Her God-Grandma is a special person. Being blind, she raised 3 good boys pretty much on her own and she watches over Ashley and Alyssa during the day when their mother and I are at work.

The girls at Sydney's B-Day Party

Here are some shots of Ashley and Arielle at Sydney's Birthday party. They decided to enjoy their day in the pool. I took these photos using the sports setting on the Cano 40D for fast action shots. Again I am taking shots with natural light and flash off.

The girls with Burger

Here are some shots of the girls with Burger, Melissa's dog. This was right before Melissa and Burger leaving on a flight to Boston. The next time the girls will see Burger will be on a trip to the east coast for Melissa and Ken's wedding.

Alssya Chillin'

Here are some shots of Alyssa chillin' and posing for me. She's only six months but boy is she a handful. Her mom gets mad sometimes because people mistaken her for a boy.

Comic-Con this weekend

Well it's the annual Comic Con here in San Diego, and this year the con is sold out. Luckily we have tickets to go on Sunday, the Last day of the con. I am hoping to capture some good photos there. Ashley is excited about going to Comic Con because I took her last year when she was 2 and she had a blast. I would also like to announce a website that my friend and I are doing that is related to comics. www.comicstripclub.com is the website and it's all about online comics and distribution. Feel free to check it out.

Ashley's new camera

Since I have taken up photography with my new Canon 40D DSLR, Ashley has been asking me to let her play with my camera. Thanks to our Friend Melissa, she gave Ashley her old camera to play with and it looks similar to my camera, that Ashley feels good about using it to take pictures. Ashley knows how to turn on the camera, hit the shutter, open the pop up flash, and even put on and take off the lens cap. She is starting early and it makes me feel good that she picks up on the little details that I do when taking pictures with my camera. For 3 years old she is pretty receptive to new things.

Playing in the front yard

Here are some natural light shots of Ashley playing with her cousin Arielle in the front yard.

Shots of the Sunset

I started experimenting with the shutter speed and aperture settings on the Canon 40D. I took some sunset shots off the front porch of my god mom's house. These shots are not really the sun setting but more of it coming down over a bed of clouds. It was another 30 more minutes before the sun would set. The picture got better after a few shots and with some adjusting.
