Here are some shots I took of my wife Sherrie in standard florescent lighting in a makeshift studio at home. I have my camera set to tungsten lighting and I am using the Gary Fong Puffer light diffuser for my pop-up flash.

Standard Vs. Over Exposed Shots

I been experimenting with overexposed shots when compared to standard exposure shots. These were taken around 7:00PM when the sun is nearing it setting stage. With a slower shutter speed setting it allowed me to capture more light into the shot. Take a look at the shots I took of Alyssa with a standard exposure vs. an over exposure shot.

The Liu's Baby Shower 08.10.08

On Sunday we drove up to LA for Quyen's Baby Shower. Below are some pictures I took at the shower utilizing only natural lighting. I tried different shutter speeds to control the amount of light entering the picture. There were some shots that were over exposed and when i got used to the lighting level the rest of the pictures came out pretty well. I embedded a slide show of the entire picture set, but there is also a link to the entire picture set on my Picasa web album too.

Get the Butcher Grand Opening 08.08.08

I would like to congratulate my friend Nick Ricoy and his brother George Ricoy for launching The Butcher Shop at www.getthebutcher.com . The Butcher Shop is an online retail store that will carry unique and special products that are from collaborations with various brands. The products they will carry, but not limited to, will be from tops, shoes, collective items such as poster prints and handbooks. The grand opening party Friday on 08.08.08 at the Onyx Room was pop'n. Sherrie, my wife, and I had a great time there. The performance from the Lyon Crowns was a nice touch to the party. I was able to catch up with old friends as well as new ones. We will have pictures of the party posted in the next few days. A future collaboration of comicstripclub.com and The Butcher Shop is currently in the works. I will keep you posted on the status.

Doesn't she just put a smile on your face!

Here are some pictures of Alyssa to brighten your day. I'm still playing with dept of field and trying to balance my shutter speed with the aperture. The lens I have has an aperture down to 3.5 Can't wait to get my wide angle with a 1.8 aperture. With that lens I should be able to get better low light shots and better depth of field when shooting closeups.

San Diego Super Chargers!!!

Well football season has final come. The smell of pre-season football is in the air and Ashley has been very excited about watching the Chargers play. We are one day away from our first pre-season game with the Cowboys. As you can see from the pictures below, she already has her game helmet on. Should be a good season for us. It's Super Bowl or Bust this year and we want a trip to Tampa Bay, Florida. It would be a good family vacation.

Gary Fong's Light Diffuser

So I finally I got a light diffuser for my pop up flash. I used it over the weekend at a wedding and below are some shots I took at home under florescent lighting. I took these shots in Manual mode with AWB set to Tungsten and adjusting the shutter speed and aperture settings. The Gary Fong light diffuser, known as the Puffer, only cost 19.99. This was probably the best twenty dollars spent on my camera so far.

Linda & Henry's Wedding

It's been about a week since my last post. I've been very busy with work and a bunch of events coming up. Linda & Henry's wedding was just this Saturday and it was my first chance to try out my new camera at an event. Some pictures came out really well and I was also able to try out my new Gary Fong light diffuser called the Puffer. This is for my pop up flash until I can get a better flash module in the future. Some of pictures shows off the soft lighting from the diffuser.
